We can advise on gardening for wildlife and conservation. If you are concerned about helping to conserve our natural world you can help right where you live by turning your garden into a haven for insects, butterflies, bees and birds....as well as yourself. Plants that were once thought of as weeds are now being seen as important contributors to our eco-system. Nettles, cow parsley, dandelions, lamb's quarters, plantain, goldenrod are just a few of many 'weeds' that have useful functions such as pollinators, herbal teas, salad leaves. Some plants such as clover can help enrich the soil, reducing the need for fertilisers. And of course composting of our food and garden waste can make a major contribution to reducing issues of waste. Even if you decide to just allow a small section of your garden to 'go wild' you will be doing your bit to help conserve our natural eco-system. Other things that are useful to add in to your garden which can also provide small details of interest are log-piles, bird houses of all shapes and sizes, insect houses, and water features - anything from a bird bath to a full size pond and any option in between. We'll be happy to talk to you about how even the smallest changes can make a difference. We advise on organic, wildlife and conservation gardening in the Leicester, Stoneygate, Knighton, Oadby, Wigston and South Leicestershire areas.
